Hi ,
We hope you found the Events Calendar in our last update useful and have managed to include some of those resources in your planning. They really are great to use as student-led activities during busy tutor times so it’s definitely worth forwarding the resources to your pastoral team to spread the word!
We’re back again to let you know about some new resources that have been added to the Resource Bank…
🎲 New Game: Careers Bluff
Our print-and-play careers version of ‘Call My Bluff’ challenges your students to identify the mystery career as well as the false 'bluff' statement about it.
You can play as a whole class or in pairs to challenge your student's careers knowledge and critical thinking skills in a fun way as they explore the tasks carried out in a range of different jobs.
Simply print and cut out the cards and you are ready to go! You could laminate the cards so the game can be shared with other groups and used again in the future too.
The game is ideal for use as a fun starter activity in careers lessons - or you could use it to introduce some quickfire career learning into tutor time.
You can find Careers Bluff in the Resource Bank here - and check out some of our other gamified activities and resources in the Activities folder here.
⚽ Cool Jobs in Football
Joining our 'Cool Jobs' series in time for the kick-off of the Women’s World Cup in July, we’ve added Cool Jobs in Football!
We know that a career in sport, and especially football, is a popular choice for young people so this resource focuses on exploring the wide range of jobs on offer in the football industry. The idea is to show young people that they can follow their passion for football without needing to become an elite footballer.
This resource explores 21 exciting jobs in the football industry - and a further three as part of the bonus 'League Cup Challenge’ - through our usual brand of contextualised challenges.
Using the interactive challenge selector, students can negotiate a contract as a Football Agent, use their creativity as the club's Brand Manager, pitch their skills as a Groundsperson, and many more.
Perfect for form tutors to do a challenge or two a day with students in the lead-up to, or during, the Women’s World Cup which starts on 20th July.
You can download the Cool Jobs in Football resource here or find our full selection of Cool Jobs resources and other Sector focused resources here.
🎬 New Careers Added
We’ve got three new individual Careers resources, to add to our existing collection of more than 60 in total, including:
Each resource includes key job information, discussion prompts, seven contextual challenges and a ‘boss level’ which takes students through a series of three story-driven challenges.
These are flexible resources that can be used in a number of different ways. You could print it as a homework activity, run it as a whole class careers activity or get students to individually explore a career of their choice during tutor time.
You can find the full collection of individual Careers resources here and remember there is also a Career Exploration worksheet for students to complete to reflect on the career they chose to explore.
🧮 KS2 Maths
Finally, we're continuing to add to our collection of KS2 resources with the addition of a new set of Maths resources to our KS2 folder.
We'll be adding KS2 subject resources for both upper and lower KS2 covering Maths, English and Science for use with students in either your feeder primary schools, or with students in your school who aren't quite yet at KS3 level.
The latest additions are mapped to the Year 3 and Year 4 Maths curriculum topics. Each resource includes seven challenges that connect learning in the topic to 'real life' challenges faced by different professionals in the world of work.
These resources are ideal for sharing with the Maths teachers in your school to help them bring the Maths curriculum to life and connect careers and the curriculum (and meet Gatsby Benchmark 4). You may also want to share these with your feeder schools to allow learners to experience some contextualised careers learning and prepare them for KS3!
You can find all of our KS2 subject resources here - and remember we also already have similar resources to contextualise every topic of the Maths, English and Science curriculum at Key Stage 3 here too.
As always you can find the main Resource Bank folder here to access the full range of more than 250 different games and resources.
We’ll be back soon with another update before the rapidly approaching end of the academic year!
We know lots of you will be starting your planning for September so if there is anything you would like us to create then please get in touch and let us know - we love a challenge!
Best regards,
Jon and the Panjango Team
