After the Connecticut Blizzard: What Homeowners Should Check Now
Feb 24, 2026 3:09 pm
Hi ,
The snow is clearing across Connecticut, but this is often when storm damage starts to show up.
As temperatures rise, take a few minutes to check:
• Roof & ceilings – any new water stains or drips?
• Ice dams – large icicles or peeling paint near ceilings?
• Basement – damp spots from snow melt?
• Pipes – leaks under sinks or in the basement?
• Gutters & downspouts – draining properly away from the foundation?
• Exterior vents – clear of snow buildup?
In Connecticut, ice dams, frozen pipes, and roof stress are some of the most common winter damage issues — and they don’t always appear during the storm itself.
