New Website to Beat Boredom and ReCAPTCHA fun!

,
During the first week of January, I realized that my audience didn't know the real me. The whole me. The painfully authentic me. Subscribers to olindaservices.com see only the business side of me. There is so much more!
I had become a bit bored with ALWAYS writing about business. Business is wonderful, I love my clients, but I want you to see there is more to me than a business head. I have many other interests and am constantly reading and growing in these different areas.
Please feel free to unsubscribe if you don't want to read or hear more about the painfully authentic me. No hard feelings, I promise. I want to grow an audience anticipating my newsletters at 7:15 a.m. on Thursday.
I want to build a platform that shows the many facets of my personality and what brings me joy. Last week I focused on building my lisaolinda.com website. The website is simple, but I wanted a platform where I could have a more well-rounded conversation with my audience. I have yet to start blogging there, but I hope to very soon. Reach out and let me know about topics you would like me to cover.
My interests range from business (of course), family, children, grandchildren, photography, dogs, singing, church, creative work like floral arrangements, home decorating (cleaning not so much), cooking, diet, creating an outdoor oasis on our acre, and visiting the mountains. You get an idea of the wide variety of my interests.
What Else Have I Been Doing?
The Consequences of One Day Without Internet
Christmas Eve at our home saw us without internet. We then discovered that the wonderful cell signal was not so great without the Wi-Fi assist. After 24 hours without internet, I searched for better service after the holidays.
Oh, my goodness. I did not anticipate the hours it would take to port over our numbers. Monica at the T-Mobile store in Travelers Rest has been a saint working with me as we processed a tablet, MiFi hotspot, business cell, and five personal cell phones for the family.
The Consequences of a Contact Form on a New Website
Who knew that a new website would attract so much SPAM? My inbox has been inundated with junk from my contact form. When I created the form, I thought about adding the reCAPTCHA, but I wanted to get it done. Well, that shortcut cost me much time deleting spam.
What is reCAPTCHA, and why do we need it?
reCAPTCHA is a security feature implemented by Google to protect websites from spam and abuse. It is designed to distinguish between human and automated traffic and prevent automated programs or bots from interacting with websites. When users visit a website that uses reCAPTCHA, they will be prompted to complete a challenge by clicking on a checkbox or entering a series of characters. This challenge is designed to be easy for humans but difficult for bots or automated programs to solve. If the user completes the challenge, they can access the website. If the user fails the challenge, they may be prompted to complete an additional challenge or be blocked from accessing the website.
If you are getting tons of spam from your website contact forms, you need to create a Google reCAPTCHA. I am using one for my lisaolinda.com site, and it took about 10 minutes to research, set up, and implement. Believe me; I have spent more time deleting spam this week.
There are other options as well. If you need help, please schedule an appointment for us to discuss your needs.
Brrrrr...I am off to Sioux Falls and Granddaughter Time
On Wednesday, I left for Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I am spending a long weekend with my son, Jeremy, and his family. I am looking forward to some 7-month-old granddaughter time.
I will still be online, so please, feel free to reach out to me at lisa@olindaservices.com if you have any needs.
