Proactively Plan for Success and Harness Existing Content

In my last email, I noted that I was visiting my son's family in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I had a great time getting to know little Freya (7 months old) and making her giggle. I enjoyed the snow (I didn't have to shovel it), and we visited the Sioux Falls Butterfly House. I was pampered and spoiled and loved every minute of it.
Proactively Plan for Success
Monday morning saw me at the Sioux Falls airport at 3:45 a.m. Talk about getting an early start on the day!
I am a people watcher. One of my favorite things is sitting and watching people as they arrive at the airport. You see dads running after their children. Moms are trying to get everyone's boarding passes ready. Business people are busy on their phones and laptops.
My morning started with people-watching, and then I pulled out paper and pen and revisited my business mission statement, key characteristics, and critical actions. As I prepare for my next 90 days, I want to ensure my ducks are in a row. One of my goals is to bring on a new client this quarter and I want to ensure we are a great fit.
How do I harness existing content?
I had a creative day on Tuesday and spent my entire day repurposing client content. Do you repurpose your business content?
Businesses are continually learning the importance of content marketing to stay relevant in today's competitive market. Content creation is a key part of any successful brand or business. However, only some realize the true potential of repurposing already created content. Repurposing existing content can maximize your reach.
Repurposing allows businesses to take one piece of content and reuse it for various applications by tailoring it to specific audiences and platforms like blogs, website pages, video scripts, podcasts, and newsletters. This repurposing saves time and money since there is no need to create multiple pieces from scratch. Additionally, repurposed content also helps boost web traffic because different versions may attract new readers.
I have several clients that creatively repurpose their content. One client has an annual conference. Each speaker submits an abstract, bio, and a presentation. These are uploaded to the conference website. Post-conference, I take the content and create a book with a complete index that can be distributed to the conference attendees. What a wonderful way to upsell.
Another client publishes a monthly journal. I create customized graphics for each article. These visuals are tailored specifically to each article published in the journal. Once these pieces are completed, they will be scheduled on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook with a link back to the online version of the article. This effort is made to drive more traffic toward the website and engage more readers with its content.
