A Plan to Start 2021 Right
Dec 15, 2020 11:46 pm
Howdy friend,
This week I want to share with you a more compassionate way to start the year 2021.
The Napkin Plan. (*This is an idea I learned from Philip McKernan, not mine originally.)
How it works:
- Set your personal intention for the year in 30 words or less.
- Choose your word for the year.
- What do you want to do for SELF? (Bullet points)
- What do you want to do for OTHERS? (Bullet points)
- What do you want to do for WORK? (Bullet points)
Some more things to consider:
- Don't quantify your goals (i.e. If one of your SELF goals is to read, write only the word READ. Don't write READ 20 BOOKS).
- This is not a list of chores or obligations. If the year 2021 ends and you didn't do one of the things on your list, do it in 2022. This exercise is about engaging in self-trust and self-compassion.
- Choose goals that are going to bring you an inner sense of satisfaction, not goals that have been pushed on you by society or family (Instead of "Get a $100K salary job" you might write "Find work that is meaningful".)
My Napkin Plan for 2021:
Happy Holidays,
Nick
