Hello from Luxembourg,
I've been working hard, and have re-edited and re-released a very short novel of mine, which you are welcome to access for free for the next four days on Amazon. After that it goes back to the usual price of $0.99, which admittedly won't break the bank, but why pay it if you can avoid it, especially with the author's blessing, right?
Snow
This is a dystopian science fiction story that fits in 10,000 words, which means you'll take about twenty minutes to read it.
Corporations provide dysfunctional geniuses capable of calculating faster-than-light trajectories that enable human colonization of distant stars. But what does it cost to create a Navigator?
When the Ortholan crashes on a distant moon, its crew must fight to survive beneath the icy surface. The ship is crippled. The air is running out. And their Navigator, the one person who might be able to get them home, is becoming increasingly erratic.
As his behavior deteriorates, the crew is forced to confront a disturbing question: What was done to him during his training?
Will they even survive long enough to find out?
The book is published on Amazon KDP and if you click through to it now (or search for "Nick Lavitz Snow" on Amazon) you'll find the Kindle edition is currently free. Hurry up, the promotion ends Monday.
If you read it and like it, please consider leaving a review on Amazon. Two minutes of your time makes all the difference to me!
What's Next?
I'm working on another approximately 10,000 word novelette, called "Eternal Child", which is a somewhat more disturbing and adult (in the sense of "horror", not "steamy") story than "Snow". I hope to have that ready for either the next newsletter or the newsletter after that.
In parallel, I continue to work on the serialization work I mentioned last week and on my next full-length novel, Erasure, which you can find more about on my website.
Support Independent Authors
My fortnightly support for other authors continues. All three of the books below are available on Amazon, and I encourage you to click through and see if they're something that might tempt you. Independent authors need all the visibility we can collectively provide!
The Wayfall Kidnapping by Bader Alsadeqi
Four women. One princess. Zero room for error.
Most people enjoy tales of justice and heroism, however, there are some who find a different kind of entertainment and intrigue through tales of crime and villainy.
In the glittering city of Wayfall, where shadows dance behind velvet curtains, while scheming happens behind gilded walls beneath the moonlight, and secrets are traded like coin, a daring team of women, each with an unapologetic history involving crime, are assembled under a client for a job that could make them infamous, or corpses.
Captain's Defiance by Rowan Ashborne
The empire's greatest hero became its most wanted traitor
The Veils Between Them by Erica Beale
A hidden supernatural town. A woman hunted for reasons she doesn't understand. A fae prince hiding in plain sight as a toy shop owner.
Thanks again for your continued support, and I'll see you in two weeks.
Cheers,
Nick.
