Hello from Belgium,
I finally finished Playing by the Rules.
This book (this year) took a lot out of me. I havenât shared anything about this yet, but my mom was admitted to the hospital a few months ago. Her health has been declining slowly for the last thirteen years, and Iâm the one closest to her and her caretaker. She got a difficult diagnosis a couple of weeks ago, and although it was expected, I still feel like I was hit in the stomach... with a baseball bat.... then driven over by a car. I know, dramatic, but I have had my low moments.
Anyways, I expect to have the draft back from my editor in about a week. So that means... Iâll have ARCâs up and ready by early January. Would you like a free copy?
Join my ARC Team today and get it when the review copy is available in early January...
Just to be clear, this is a high school romance. It has a lot of humor with some depth, but nothing too dramatic. Iâve had ARC readers be brutal in their reviews because they werenât expecting a high school or university read. So, this is a heads-up. Please donât sign up to read and review if you know that is not your genre.
In case you want a sneak peek before you decide, here is a small one, just for you (Just so you know, this hasnât been edited yet):
âHey, Josh.â I hollered, loud enough for several heads to turn my way. But I didnât care. I was on a mission.
âHi.â Josh said, walking toward his usual table the other side of the cafeteria. I closed the distance between us, and took ahold of his tray.
âWhat are you doing?â Joshâs eyes widened.
âWhat does it look like Iâm doing?â I tugged on his tray hard enough to loosen his grip but not too hard to tip his open carton of milk.
Note to self, Josh still drinks milk with his lunch. How cute was that?
âIf I knew that, Mia, I wouldnât be asking.â Josh said, but he leaned in closer, his eyes searching mine.
I took advantage of the moment, and tugged the tray free of his grasp, and spun on my heel. Not before I gave him a full once over. It didnât hurt to ruffle his feathers every now and then. Loosen up that stick stuck you know where.
âFollow me.â I said over my shoulder, not waiting to see if he would listen. Any other guy, and I wouldnât be having this conversation. Any other guy, and I wouldnât be this insecure. But with Josh Morris there was a fifty-fifty chance he wouldnât comply.
Maybe more like a sixty-forty.
Okay, who was I kidding?
The chances where almost zero. Josh called the shots in whatever this was we were doing. But I decided to sway my hips and keep my steps confident. I was Mia Davis. Not a single guy in school would pass up a chance to share lunch with me. Why would Josh?
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, a Happy New Year, or whatever celebration you might be commemorating this time of the year. đ
Lots of love,
M
