Life Notes Newsletter: How to Create Mastery

Jul 26, 2021 1:01 am

Hey,

Welcome to the Life Notes Newsletter - a newsletter filled with actionable notes on life.

Here's...

Something to think on in your week:

  • Do the things you're trying to improve on have strong feedback loops in place?

A quote to support your thinking:

  • "Feedback loops are not only crucial for the dynamics of motivation, but also the key element to any learning process. Nothing motivates us more than the experience of becoming better at what we do. And the only chance to improve in something is getting timely and concrete feedback. Seeking feedback, not avoiding it, is the first virtue of anyone who wants to learn." - How to Take Smart Notes, Dr. Sönke Ahrens

Some extra thoughts:

  • You must confront yourself with your muck ups, your mistakes, your failures - alongside your wins, your achievements and your growth - in order to improve. Feedback loops need to be strong in order to be effective. Force feedback loops into your systems.

Action steps to consider:

  • Create a list of areas in your life where you're trying to improve (personal or professional)
  • Determine what feedback loops exist or what feedback loops could be created for each area.
  • Look to stats, data AND reflection (e.g. what did you do well? what didn’t you do well? how could you improve?)

Appreciate you,

Michelle
