Welcome to the 8th issue of The MSA Times! We hope you all did great in your midterms and continue to do well this semester Inshallah. Last week, our collaboration with Charity Week was extremely successful alhamdulillah. We raised over $2,000 for the cause! Moreover, it was lovely seeing everyone at all of our events throughout the week! This week, we are excited to see you all again on Wednesday, for our Petals of the Prophet event, where we will be handing out flowers with a hadith on them. Please take a moment this week to fill out our survey to gauge the demand for a Muslim Chaplain on campus. Remembering Allah (dhikr) is the way to happiness. Allah swt said: 

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ ٱلْقُلُوبُ

Translation: those who believe and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of Allah. Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort. (Quran 13:28)

Over the course of the last 19 months, a Muslim cemetery in Fargo, Dakota has been vandaliszed three time. Recently, there were five vaults that were smashed causing the damages to cost around $5,000. Heidi Soliman, a spokesman for the Islamic Society, said, “We don’t know if it’s a hate crime, but it is a very expensive deal for us.” In the surrounding area of Fargo, there have also been instances of vandalism targeted towards muslim immigrant-refugee owned businesses. The words “Patriot Front” was regularly spray painted all over the establishments which ties back to a white nationalist hate group that formed that Charlottesville rally back in 2017.
