Welcome to the 5th issue of The MSA Times! We hope you are all having a great semester so far. This Monday and Tuesday are the white days of Rabi-ul-Awwal and in lue of that, we invite you to fast along with us during these days as well as join us for Iftar at Maghrib. We hope to break our fasts alongside one another on campus and we will pray together afterwards. Please feel free to join us even if you are unable to fast! Our last guest speaker event was a success and we request your presence at our next one this Thursday, where we will be hosting Sister Kaniz Koli. We hope to see you all there InshaAllah!

A man walked into Muncie Islamic Center in Muncie, Indiana, looking to harm all the occupants of the masjid. His intentions of hate and destruction were met with love from the Muslims and his years of seething hatred towards Islam turned into a passionate embrace. The man’s name was Richard McKinney. As a former US Marine stationed in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan, McKinney harbored a deep hatred towards Islam. This hatred boiled over once he returned home and discovered that Muslims were beginning to move into his area. He set out to detonate a bomb in the Muncie Islamic Center, but through meeting individuals like Jomo Williams, an African American Muslim who experienced similar levels of hostility towards white people before he converted, McKinney accepted Islam.
