Pilgrim's Credo
Jun 14, 2023 8:11 am
Dear praying friends,
My morning devotion as I walk our dog is listening to the Lectio Divina from 24-7 Prayer. For the next weeks, Pete Grieg is doing a 3-week walking Pilgrimage and sharing some insights. One thing that has struck me is the Pilgrim's Credo:
I am not in control.
I am not in a hurry.
I walk in faith and hope.
I greet everyone with peace.
I bring back only what God gives me.
Murray Bodo O.F.M. "The Place We Call Home."
I have been processing what it means to have this attitude in the pilgrimage of life, this journey God has us on as citizens of heaven living here (in different lands, where we are - as Peter wrote, "aliens and strangers" (1 Peter 2:11)
I am not in control (but I want to be). I am not in a hurry (that's not true as often as it should be). I walk in faith and hope (well, I try... but it is hard sometimes). I greet everyone with peace (when I take the time to make eye contact walking down the busy streets of Berlin). I bring back only what God gives me (if there is room amid the worries and stresses of the day.). Yeah, this is a prayer I need to let grow in my heart and soul.
Some prayer requests for the coming week:
- A team arrives tomorrow morning! Pray for us as we engage for the next 10 days with this team of church leaders.
- Our intern Selah is finishing her internship this week and transitioning into some new life experiences in Berlin. Pray for her as she finishes her time here!
- We really need rain in Berlin! Please pray for rain.
- Pray for health on our team - we are either facing allergies or a cold that is going through (right as a team is about to arrive!)
Blessings,
mike
