An Ashy Valentine`s Day?

Hi praying friends,

Sometimes I am surprised by how good my memory is - and sometimes by how bad it is. For example, I could not remember when the last time Valentine's Day and Ash Wednesday fell on the same day. Apparently, it happened in 2018 (and Easter was on April Fool's Day).

Most Evangelical Christians celebrate Valentine's Day (or wish they were celebrating Valentine's Day), while Ash Wednesday is not something we always observe. Tonight, Envision Berlin's once-a-month English Worship Service falls on this strange day - and I look forward to leading the service. Can you pray for us as we enter this solemn time of remembrance and also celebrate the amazing gift of God's love perfectly expressed in Jesus? How will you observe the beginning of Lent?

Lent (in German Fastenzeit (Time of Fasting) is observed in churches, but will largely be overlooked by most of our German neighbors. Easter, however, will be observed in a large variety of ways. Will you pray with us through Lent that God will increase some of our neighbor's curiosity about the real meaning of Easter?

Other prayer requests:

  1. Elissa's back is continuing to cause her a lot of pain. Please pray for relief!
  2. Our book pre-release party is 10 days away! Please pray for all the books we ordered to arrive on time.
  3. As you pray for our interns and residents, can you also pray for their next steps? We have an intern and resident who are approaching the end of their time with us - one looking to move into Grad school and the other looking at completing his degree. Please pray as they continue to pursue God's calling!

Blessings,

mike
