Hey
Here are 10 content sins killing your credibility (and sales)
brought to you by my LinkedIn friend Babajide (more about him in this email) & yours truly ↴
You're posting consistently and showing up daily. Giving value that speaks to your ideal audience.
But your ideal clients? They are scrolling right past you.
The problem isn't your work ethic or the algorithms hate you.
Far from it my G.
These 10 sins are quietly sabotaging everything you create and your effort.
1) Relevance > format
People argue about long-form vs short-form like it’s a holy war. See nobody cares.
If it’s not relevant, nobody is paying attention to it. Your audience only stops when what you’re saying touches what they are seeking.
2) Use more "you" than "I/me"
Your prospects need to feel you are speaking to them by including “YOU” in your messaging. Make it about them.
3) Solve problems before you sell
Pushing your offers first. Your audience doesn't care if you
have the best products or services.
Give education based value (problem + solution). Make it about your audience not you.
4) Speak to one specific audience
Call them out, include them naturally in your content or hook
and even examples.
e.g. "I was on a call with my client, a wellness coach" or "Hey, service providers…"
5) Your experience > AI content
There is too much chatGPT & google surface content your audience can get from google & chatGPT.
Sharing your lived moments, experiences and perspectives make them connect and lean with you.
6) Show the outcomes
Skip jargon and tell them exactly what they will experience. Paint the vision or feeling in their mind.
❌"I help you optimize your metabolic function"
✅ "Wake up full of energy that actually lasts past 10am, no energy drink needed"
7) Oversharing kills your sales
You believe in oversharing like it is a free lunch. Oversharing value will only make the ideal client see you as a freebie opportunity.
Guide your ideal client through a desire to your paid solution. Each value should serve a purpose.
8) Sell the transformation
Your prospects don't care about your method/process (at least, not right now). The result is what they care about.
Focus on where they'll be after working with you, not how you'll get them there.
❌ 6-month mentorship with bi-weekly calls and Slack access.
✅ Charge what you're worth without feeling guilty or apologizing.
9) Confused audience won't buy
When your message changes everyday, your audience get confused.
Imagine adding to their frustration when they are seeking a solution.
Repeat your messaging to build credibility and familiarity.
10) Use their words (not yours)
Ask yourself: "How would they describe this to their best friend?"
❌ "I need to rebalance my hormones."
✅ "I can't fit into my jeans" or "How will I get through today?"
Use their words not textbook terms.
