The invisible copy mistake costing you clients

Sep 05, 2025 4:01 pm

Hey ,

Quick test: count how many times you use "I" or "we" on your homepage.

Now count how many times you use "you" or "your." If the first number is higher, you've found your problem.

Your website is all about you and what you can do for your clients. But visitors need to feel it's about THEM.

They care about their problems.

Here's what I mean:

❌ "We are passionate about helping businesses grow" --> how do you SHOW and make them feel your passion?

✅ "Tired of working 60-hour weeks while your revenue stays flat?"

❌ "I have 15 years of experience in digital marketing" --> experience doesn't mean you get THEIR specific problem

✅ "Stop wasting money on ads that don't bring qualified leads"

❌ "Our team believes in delivering exceptional results" --> while that's kind and heartfelt, what are "exceptional results"?

✅ "Finally get the phone ringing with clients who actually want to pay your rates"

See the shift? The second version speaks directly to what keeps your prospects awake at 3 AM.

Remember, people visit websites looking for solutions to their problems, not to learn about your company history or mission statement.

When you lead with "I" and "we," you're basically excluding them from the conversation.

Quick fix: Start every section with their problem or goal instead of your credentials.

Your expertise matters, but only after you've shown you understand their world and make them feel seen and understood.

Makes sense?

Hit reply with your questions, let's get those visitors to become clients.
