New access to Write with Me plus other updates

Oct 15, 2025 9:31 pm

Greetings !

It's been a really busy week so far here. I had a 5-hour rehearsal Monday for the play I'm in; it was great! But yesterday, I was something of a zombie. That said, acting things out (whether on stage or alone at home) can be really great for your writing. I recorded a podcast episode about it that you can listen to for free.

For Writers

Originally, I had planned to host the community on Teachable, but I like Slack better. It feels more accessible and has better app access for your phone.

To join the Write with Me community, use the button below (if you were already a member, I'm so sorry, but you'll need to join again).

Join the Community

I apologize for the shifts and changes. All of this is in service of preparing to launch my workshop. That will be in Teachable, with the community portion also in Slack (and live calls on Zoom). If that sounds like a lot, don't worry – I'll guide anyone who joins the workshop through it all.

In the interest of continuing to share little snippets about that workshop with you, I want to let you know that for the first four weeks, participants will be able to submit exercises and reflections for feedback, and the last two weeks will be devoted to submitting pages of your actual story for feedback.

I'm really looking forward to it! I'll keep sharing more about the workshop as we get closer to its launch.

Here's a writing exercise for you this week: Write a 100-word story that includes the following words: orange, box, and corridor. You can use them in any context. The story must be exactly 100 words. Have fun!

For Readers

I don't have much news here to share with you except that I'm continuing to plug away on the two stories I'm currently working on (A Winter's Trust and Liberty of the Realm.) It's been so busy that I haven't had a ton of time during the week to write, but that's okay. Some times are just like that!

Whenever I'm in such a time, I try to focus on gratitude for the excitement I bring to the page when I do have the opportunity to write.

In large part, this is due to my theater obligations at present, about which I have no regrets, but which were not in my original autumn 2025 plans. It's all good though; Aunt March is fabulously cranky.

But, next week, I will have more of an update for you! I promise. :) I plan to spend some time this week working on my stories.

If I haven't told you yet, I can confirm that A Winter's Trust will be a novella.

Until next time, yours in story,

Margaret
