What do you love to do? ❤️

Hey, ,
This note is for you — if you're looking to get started with your own business, do something new, or reframe your current offering(s).
A reader asked me: how do I know what business to start?
There are so many resources that explain how out there that it can be a bit overwhelming to know exactly where to look. Since, I've started a few myself and helped several entrepreneurs start their own too…
I wanted to chime in and share with you: a helpful way to get started.
Here are three filters I've used to answer that question for myself:
❤️ What do I love to do?
👍🏽 What am I good at?
🧑🏾 What do people need?
What do I love to do?
Think of things that you thoroughly enjoy, and that you wouldn't need to be paid for in order to be happy.
Then, write down 5 of them.
I want to share one other way to think about this (that someone else framed for me in how to think about this question)…
If you could no longer do any of those 5 things, which one(s) would you miss?
Next…
What am I good at?
Think of things that come naturally to you. Or, think of areas that you have experience, training, or education in.
And, write down 5 of them.
Then, ask at least 3 people you know: What do you think I'm good at?
Go ahead and compare these two lists to see if there's some crossover in what you, and what they, came up with.
And, finally…
What do people need?
Like what do people actually need? A lot of products and services exist because they solve real problems. So here's one idea: Find a problem in your life that you can solve.
Have you already solved one? Can you do this for other people?
Write down up to 5 of these problems (and potential solutions if you can).
Ok, that will get you started…
I am beginning to use these as a daily filter:
Is this something people need? Is this something I can do? Is this something I actually enjoy doing?
I can get pretty deep into a passion of mine and notice it takes a lot of my time. Recently, I've had to take a step back, so that I can ask myself those same questions.
This helps me make sure that I am spending my energy in the right areas.
And, I believe you might benefit from using these questions as a filter too.
So…
What's one thing you believe you're good at? I'm curious. Reply via email or video/voice and share your questions with me.
Enjoy,
