Whoops, how do I get that back!? 😫

Hey, ,
Learn how you can edit freely on your website and not mess anything up.
Wix is built for experimentation… trying new things, and confidently knowing that all will be okay.
When I facilitated creative sessions for Apple, I would always start by telling my learners:
"We're here to try things. Nothing you do will blow it up. I will encourage you to press buttons, and then see what happens. We can learn from this, and I promise it'll all be okay."
Many of us have been taught not to try anything new with technology… and even not to touch buttons you don't understand.
Well, I'm here to encourage you to do the opposite.
Do try stuff. Do see what happens. Do take note of it.
And know, confidently, that you won't lose anything.
Because, I'm here to show you exactly where you can find everything that you've changed on your website.
There are two great options in Wix to restore your work. One you probably already know about, and there's one more that you may not yet be familiar with.
Let's dive in…
Hey there, Undo button
The undo button is a great option for undoing that last thing (or last few things) you did. It's great for those recent quick fixes.
But, what happens if you didn't recently do something, or it was a change made a LONG time ago.
That's where Site History comes in.
Potentially introducing you to… Wix Site History
When you've been working for a long time and realize that you need to go back in time… Site History is your friend.
Inside of Site History you can view every save you've made (or saves that the Wix autosave feature made), as well as anytime you've published changes to your Wix website.
And if that wasn't enough, the Site History will also show who made those changes. Whether it was you or someone else who helped on the website.
And if even that wasn't enough, you can Restore your site to any version you've ever made. 😱
Yes, you read that correctly. Wix allows you to literally go back in time to restore your website from a previous version, so that you can always have it the way you wanted.
So, how do we access Site History? Let's take a look.
Find it using Wix Universal Search from within the Wix Dashboard, or access your site history from the Wix Editor
- Select "Site" on the top left of the Wix Editor.
- Select "Site History".
- Select "Go to Site History" from the "See Your Site History" pop-up window.
Once you've opened up the Site History in Wix, you'll see a menu on the left side, where you can:
- Filter your view by all the edits (revisions) you've ever made, or just the times you've published it,
- Restore a previous version of your website to be THE published version (the one that everyone sees when they visit you), or
- Keep viewing each change (version) by selecting them in the Site History menu.
So, that's how you can… get that back… and, feel confident in knowing you can keep on practicing
This is one major reason that I continue to choose Wix for any web projects I work on. Also, many of the company's values line up with my own: like their beliefs in user privacy, web accessibility, security, feedback, support, education, and entrepreneurs. They were the first, and still are "the only ones," in many of these areas.
Try something new. Then, tell me what you did. Reply via email or video/voice and share your questions with me.
Enjoy,
