Hey ,

The summer solstice has arrived for me (in the Northern Hemisphere), and with it the longest day of the year. And, I'm here for it.

My plan for today is to spend more time away from the screen. My aim for this edition of the Wix Weekly is to help you (and me) continue to do this more often rather than only on the longest day of the year.

With that in mind, this edition will be much shorter than the past 8 weeks have been. If you're curious, we covered from start to finish — how to build an online business and website with intention.

Getting outside for a walk is a great way to reduce your screen time.

Plus there are numerous health benefits you can gain from walking.

Over the past 60+ days, I've actually changed up my personal goals for fitness and nutrition.

I have learned a lot about what I've been doing right, as well as what I was doing wrong. This past week alone, I learned that I've been incorporating too much cardio.

Instead, I should have made walking a priority.

Walking has always helped me connect with nature and get creative inspiration. I like to go for walks when I need help brainstorming ideas for this newsletter, creating website copy, or when I need to respond to emails. Even taking a walk after meals has allowed me to feel less fatigued and more satiated. Walks are especially helpful for me when I have a more involved (or stressful) event planned.

There's an additional health factor for you when you go for a walk. Walking outdoors vs. indoors can expose you to beneficial negative ions. And, you won't be using another screen like when on a treadmill.

If you are able to plan a walk for 15-30 min today or tomorrow — it might help inspire creativity, give you a break, or reenergize you entirely. And, if you are injured or live with accessibility needs — choosing to do what's best for you today will help you tomorrow.

What are some things you do to reduce your screen time? I'd love to learn from you. Let me know in a reply.

Enjoy,

Matt
