You don't have to be afraid of God

Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. / Hebrews 10:19-23 (ESV)
As believers, we have been granted a remarkable privilege through the blood of Jesus Christ. We have the confidence to enter into the holy places and draw near to God. In today's devotion, we'll explore the depth of this privilege and how it impacts our faith and relationships with one another.
Confidence through Christ's Sacrifice:
Reflect on the new and living way that Jesus opened for us through His flesh. His sacrificial death on the cross tore the curtain separating us from God, granting us direct access to Him. Embrace the truth that through Jesus, we have a great High Priest who intercedes for us and represents us before the Father. Let this fill you with confidence and gratitude as you approach God in prayer and worship.
Drawing Near with a True Heart:
Examine your heart and cultivate a genuine desire to draw near to God. Approach Him with a true heart, fully assured of your faith in Jesus. Recognize that through Christ, your heart has been sprinkled clean from an evil conscience. Allow this assurance to free you from guilt and shame, enabling you to boldly come before God's presence.
Holding Fast to Your Confession:
Hold fast to the confession of your hope in Christ without wavering. Remember that God who promised is faithful and trustworthy. In times of uncertainty and challenges, cling to the truth of His promises. Let the hope you have in Jesus be an anchor for your soul, providing stability and steadfastness in the midst of life's storms.
Prayer:
As I come before You today, I am grateful for the incredible privilege I have through the blood of Jesus Christ. Thank You for tearing the curtain that separated me from You and granting me confidence to enter into Your holy presence. Help me to fully grasp the depth of this privilege and approach You with a true heart and full assurance of faith. May the assurance of my clean heart and washed body empower me to boldly draw near to You, free from guilt and shame. Fill me with gratitude and awe for the sacrifice of Jesus, my great High Priest. I choose to trust in Your promises and hold fast to my confession of hope in Christ, knowing that You are faithful. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
Reflection Questions:
1. How does the knowledge of Christ's sacrifice give you confidence in approaching God?
2. What steps can you take to cultivate a true heart and draw near to God with assurance?
3. In what ways can you hold fast to your confession of hope in Christ, especially during difficult times?
