The Only Place That Replied

Hey folks,
Every quarter, my wife and I meet hundreds of new people.
We don’t schedule follow-up meetings with all of them. That wouldn’t make sense. Different industries, different seasons, different levels of alignment.
What we do instead is connect people.
Being a connector is one of the most underrated business advantages in the world. It’s fun. It builds trust. And when you introduce two people who should know each other, you become memorable in a way no sales pitch ever could.
One of the ways we do this is by hosting events. We aim for one per quarter because nothing replaces real, face-to-face contact. That’s how I’ve met friends, partners, clients, and people who’ve helped me tremendously — especially since we moved to Vegas last year.
Anyway, this summer we have several clients coming into town for a conference in July. My wife Julianna — our office manager and events coordinator — started researching venues for different kinds of outings.
Restaurants. Hotels. Private spaces.
And yes… one specific strip club at the request of one guy who wants a solo night on the town...
Now, that’s not my scene. But I have clients flying into Vegas who want that experience. My job isn’t to judge their preferences. My job is to be useful.
So we reached out them and all the other types of venues I listed for information.
I kid you not — the strip club replied first.
Rates. Order process. Clear offers. Transportation details. Done.
It’s now been several business days.
We haven’t heard back from most of the others.
The place you would not expect to be the most attentive in the room had the best follow-up.
The “socially acceptable” venues? Silent.
Business doesn’t reward branding alone.
It rewards responsiveness.
Don’t judge a book by its cover — and don’t assume professionalism based on category.
In Vegas, everyone markets glamor.
Very few execute operationally.
If you’re in business, here’s the uncomfortable truth: the company that replies first often wins. Not because they’re better. But because they’re present.
Speed signals competence.
Clarity signals confidence.
Follow-up signals seriousness.
You don’t have to love what someone sells to respect how they run it.
If we recommend a place to our clients coming into town, you can bet it’ll be the one that actually answers emails.
In a world obsessed with aesthetics and image, basic responsiveness is still a competitive advantage.
Sometimes the best operator in the room isn’t the one you expected.
And if you’re wondering why deals aren’t closing fast enough in your business…
Start by checking who’s replying.

PS. Sometimes there are more issues with the car (your business) than just that annoying sound clanging under the hood (the stuff you don't like to talk about). Best way to fix what you don't want others to see? Speak with a professional. Book a call with me today.
PSS. If you want to know the strip club, just email me and I'll tell you.
