Few people outside the traditional wet shaving community think about making lather with a shave brush and lathering shave soap or cream to shave, but anyone reading this email knows it really can make a world of difference.

I've made a step-by-step guide you can pass along to the "newbie," showing exactly what a shaving lather is, what to look for, why you should never use an aerosol can, and the different ways to build lather.

Note: this is the second of a series of articles updating some of my original content on Youtube from 15 years ago. Call it a "resharpening!"

You may have noticed an interesting lathering bowl in that article:

PAA vs. DG

Ed McCarthy writes about his fifth first-round head-to-head evaluation in Sharpologist’s scent-free soap competition, this time featuring Declaration Grooming Unscented versus Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements (PAA) Scentsless (Formula CK-6). In this series he's focusing on overall shaving performance so neither a soap’s scent nor its cost is a factor in the review.
