Hello ,
I can't believe my debut novel is a year old today. At times it feels like I published Nakoma and the Prince only yesterday, but usually it seems like a lifetime ago.
For those of you who enjoy the stats from small indie authors, here's mine:
- 93 copies sold worldwide
- over 15,000 km travelled to reach the furthest reader in the United Kingdom
- 63 physical signed copies sold in Australia
- 4.25 stars on GoodReads & 4.5 stars on Amazon
- 5 reviews total across platforms π«£
- 2 interconnected short stories published in Of Royals and Warriors with 100s of downloads.
This might not seem like a lot to bigger authors, but for me it's a massive achievement. I'm really proud of how far I've come, and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for my books.
So what's next? Over the last year, I've been working on a couple of different projects including:
- YA Urban Fantasy trilogy set in Australia
- Book 2 of the Patel Chronicles focused on Tia
- A book for Omarion that includes a dragon
That said, the next installment in the Patel Chronicles is far from complete, so Nakoma will have to keep waiting for a sibling to hang out with her on my bookshelf.
While you're waiting, I've got plenty of new authors to suggest. This month I've joined with other fantasy authors to bring you books that only cost an email. If I had to pick, these would be my top 4. Just look at how gorgeous their covers are ππ
And yes, my big boofhead Amstaff is completely healed now. He had to spend 14 long days with no walks or play time and gained a tiny scar for his efforts. Mowgli has no sense of self preservation though, and is now back to his usual antics of running at top speed and crashing into fences with his brother Peanut.

Thank you for all your support of Nakoma and the Prince over the last year. Every one of you mean the world to me π₯°
Monica.
