imageHi !

Howdy y’all!

So the last month has just flown by. I can’t believe it’s already February. I’m sick in bed with Covid. I hope February has started off better for y’all than it has for me.

School is going well. I’ve got an A in my advanced fiction workshop class and a high B in my world literature class so far. For our final project in the workshop, I’m writing book two. Here is some of the feedback from my professor I have gotten so far.

My son's name is Charlie JUST RIP OUT MY HEART ON THE FIRST PAGE WHY DON'T YOU.
This is such a sweet, sad beginning. You get in the most important exposition and horror in a few casual sentences, in dialogue nonetheless. With a child! Dang, Lucia. Do you even need me.
Maddy is such a 12yo. Tweening so hard amidst the angst and grief.
And the interaction/reaction between Kee and Morgan is spot on. Morgan is stressed and dealing with her own stuff, and while I understand what Kee is going through (or utterly not but trying or maybe not even trying. This is how people are in light of tragedy--you see their true colors). And Kee can't take even the most mild joke because dude HER DAD KILLED HER MOM. HER MOM IS DEAD. Did I mention that part about ripping out my heart?!
I'm fine. It's fine. (It's not fine. But that's fiction for you.)

I was rather excited when I read this feedback from her.

So book two is in the works. Progress is going much slower than I’d like with being sick and the upcoming back surgery. But progress is being made. I’m looking to release sometime in the summer. Cover reveal to come soonish.

I hope this email finds everyone safe and warm. See y’all next month with more updates.
