There are parts of my childhood that do come flooding back, but they are almost always the moments where I had an intense feeling. One of love, one of belonging, one of happiness, alongside ones of fear, loneliness and sadness. That's why it's important to make our children feel those positive emotions as much as we can, so their memories of those feelings are as positive as they can be. Not easy you might think at the moment. BUT, some of the smallest things I remember about my childhood are the happiest and easiest to recall. Splashing in my red wellies, or looking for butterflies with my Dad. Simple, but oh so happy and recalled with such joy.
