The Last Lap
Although his flying start to the 1980 BMW M1 Procar Championship couldn't be sustained, Jan Lammers reserves a special place in his heart for the car that gave him a shot at fighting Formula 1's big guns in equal machinery. Gary Watkins of Autosport tells the story of this incredible car and the series that has sadly never been attempted again. Read it here.
“It’s everything about that car, the series and the time,” says Lammers, a veteran of 23 grand prix starts and 24 at Le Mans. “It was the engine and the gearing of the car, the way it handled - it was such a joy to drive and really suited my style.”
