The Chicken house saga is just one of the projects we've been engaged in over what has so far been a ten-year slog. The wreck of a farmhouse we are trying to make habitable is marked on the 1850 Ordnance Survey map. It's situated on a raft of natural rock and is built of field stones and soil. The original building just had two rooms downstairs, three upstairs, and no bathroom or kitchen facilities. We built an extension to accommodate a bathroom, utility room and kitchen which is finally in progress (yipee). At the beginning of this adventure we were living in a camper, and my kitchen was a sink propped up against an outside wall, fed from a well up the road!
