Create YOUR Special Space, Even if its Just a Corner

Helloooo,
Welcome to this week's email from me, Michelle, here at the Flourish Mama. This week, we're talking ways to create a calm and relaxing space for you within your home.
We all know that having kids brings its own unique brand of clutter. There are extra items you need once you have kids, well meaning people buy or hand down heaps of stuff and as your kids get older, they bring random sh*t into your home!! Sometimes it can feel like there is a never ending layer of clutter in your home.
Creating a mini sanctuary for yourself amongst the chaos is another way to bring calm and connection within yourself. Start by choosing a space that has natural light - by a window is great, if possible. Next, declutter the area and bring in enough storage to keep the clutter at bay! Choose soft, cosy furnishings and decor items, keeping in mind calming and relaxing colours. Things like a beautiful blanket or throw, pillows and if you can, a comfy armchair for reading, journaling or just being.
Use scented candles or fresh flowers to engage more of your senses and add in natural elements - perhaps a piece of driftwood you have collected or an indoor plant. And don't forget to add a personal touch, you might want to display your favourite framed print or a funky lamp that makes you smile each time you see it.
Do your best to keep this corner of your home free of clutter and distractions.
This project doesn't need to cost a lot of money either. See if you can repurpose existing furnishings within your home or check out your local thrift shop - you never know what treasures you might find!
I wonder what you would bring into your calm space?
Until next time,
Michelle
