Something for Your Nervous System - Avoidant Attachment
Jul 03, 2025 11:01 am
Hello ,
Let’s pause the scroll and the mental to-do list for a second.
If you often find yourself pulling away when things get too emotionally intense—or freezing when someone asks you to open up—you’re not alone. That’s your nervous system doing what it learned to do.
And healing doesn’t mean forcing yourself to do the opposite. It means learning how to stay with yourself when the feelings come.
So today, I want to gift you a simple practice:
The Micro-Anchor Practice
- Find a quiet place. Close your eyes for just 60 seconds.
- Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly.
- Say aloud or silently: “I can be with myself right here. Right now. I don’t have to go anywhere.”
- Notice what shifts. Even if it’s 1%.
This may seem small, but these are the moments that rewire us.
If you want to go deeper, try journaling: “When I feel overwhelmed by closeness, what would I rather give myself than run away?”
We’ll be sending more tools and support soon. You’re doing beautifully.
With grounded care,
