The opposite of a cane-wielding parent is not a permissive (weak ) parent.

It's funny how you have conversations with parents who believe that children should be disciplined with rods and yelling, and they assume that any parent who isn't shouting and beating is automatically a permissive parent who is spoiling their children.

Wawu! That notion is not true at all 😂. Calm down let's gist, make your body no de hot.

Some of the firmest, most focused and most disciplined parents with the most effective parenting styles that I know are people who are generally intentional and do not wield a cane.

Parents who understand the place of programming, connection, boundaries, consequences, and skills go to work and stay focused on the goal.

They start the work while other people were only drinking kunu and pap for breast milk and looking for the creche with the biggest television screens.

They introduce play and let their children explore and understand what play items are safe and what aren't safe through curiosity, while others scream " stop it"

They introduce skills and teach independence while others shout down instructs and try to beat sense into humans.

Alas, the reason we get frustrated and wield the cane is that we want to change negative behaviours which are a result of poor habits practised consistently over time.

What does this say,

Simple...

If we introduce positive habits early and stay consistent our children will practice these consistently and form positive behaviours.

A little doze of emotional intelligence, knees on the ground with eyes to God, a stimulating environment for accelerated learning, structure in your home and a parenting plan that helps you stay focused on your goals added to this and I promise you, you will hand that cane to Fulani herdsmen.
