CONTENT : This 2 day training
- defines and differentiates between anger and rage
- makes the link between rage and trauma
- explores the positive aspects of anger and
- identifies a wide range of ways in which anger gets distorted
Further, it
- presents a relational approach and methodologies for working with anger and rage.
- offers the opportunity to view a demonstration of the approach,
- skills practice,
- a supervision slot to discuss a case and
- opportunities throughout for Q&A.
- deepens understanding about how a therapeutic relationship alone provides clients with everything they need to address their anger and rage issues.
- arms participants with up to date neuroscience, positive outcomes in therapy and academic research findings.
An empathic, relational approach will be experienced first hand as the process of the training mirrors the approach being advocated.

That Bit Again
By William Ayot
He has a colleague who hurt him, who raged
at him, whose animal fury blasted him back
into shrunken, numb, and terrified childhood.
His voice down the phone was belly and spittle;
father-swollen-ogre and gangster bully-boy.
He can overlook another childish loss of temper,
has even won through to a wry superiority,
but what he can’t get past, what’s gnawing him,
is that he’s opened a door to his own scaly rage.
There’s a reptile in him that wants to kill,
to rip out the throat of this unfair world:
an old, cold, scarred and patient crocodile
that lies there, doggo, across a mud-bank,
eyes closed, body still, blood-death-memory
primed and ready, waiting, waiting, breathing slow.
Oh, he knows that vulnerability’s a threat
and that innocence can bring out the killer in us.
He’s made his “feed it, fight it, or fuck it” choices.
He’s neither a monster nor a bloodless ghoul.
What’s hard to stomach is that bit inside him
that reaches for the knife, that slips into the water;
the dead-eyed, threatened little boy, that morphs
into the stranger who savages those he loves,
who sweeps away years of trust and affection;
turning a tiff into a bloody crime-scene.
His colleague says he wants to build a bridge,
to turn back the clock and make all well again.
So he’ll probably call him — pick up the phone,
and lie for a while for the sake of the business;
but as he concedes and pretends to forgiveness,
he'll have the stench of the swamp in his nostrils;
and as he affirms that they’re still good friends
he’ll sense that old bit of him, slithering away.
