🦉 WoW #40 - I found an amazing habit training app 🦉

Happy Wednesday, Wise Owl Nation!

This is the 40th issue of Wise Owl Wednesday! We've been going strong now for ten months. To those of you that have been here from the early days, thank you! And to those of you that just got here, welcome!

Most weeks I take a topic and apply it to wisdom, health, and wealth. What I never do, is focus an entire newsletter on one tool, tip, or trick. That changes this week. This week I walk through a new habit-forming app I have been thoroughly impressed with.

It's called "Fabulous" and I have been using it daily for 19 days in a row. I like to get hands on with any cool tools before I share them with you all, and this one has become a mainstay for me. So much so that it gets its own newsletter.

Let's get into it.

You can find all past issues (including this one) here.

The Fabulous App:

I found this app earlier this month when I was in a weird mood. My daily routines weren't doing it for me anymore.

I needed to "shake it up." Which is incidentally why I wrote about shaking things up the following week. So I went to the iPhone's app store and started poking around. I found the top 10 productivity apps ranked, and saw that I had all of them except for Fabulous. So I said screw it, downloaded the app anyway, and started investigating.

In a word - It's really well done. The visuals are gorgeous, the voice acting is superb, and the app is actually quite immersive in a way that is not normal for a self-help app.

There is a premium version that costs $40/year which comes out to about $3 a month. If Fabulous could do what they claimed they could do, then $3 a month is a steal.

I have 5 more 30-day premium guest passes left according to my app, so if you want to try the premium version for a full-month before deciding if it's worth it: then use this link to do so.

^ That is not an affiliate link by the way. I get nothing by recommending this tool, other than the satisfaction that my readers have a new tool to make their lives wiser, healthier, and wealthier.

Some stuff I like about it:

Interactive Voice Acting and Animation:

When you first get started in the app, there is a cool journey it takes you on. This is complete with voice acting and custom animation. I have never seen this kind of stuff in other apps before. It was the first thing that really caught my eye when I started using the tool on day one.

They also have professional voice actors read out the "daily coaching" articles, so you don't have to read them yourself. On more than one occasion this has kept me from skimming over the coaching article.

Really cool streak tracking:

One of the most important concepts that lead to success in any area of life is consistency. Putting in the work every day to achieve your desired outcome over the long-term.

Most apps that want you to keep using them have some sort of tracking feature built-in, but normally that is just some arbitrary number. And sure "number go up" can be a fun concept, but it never makes you feel like you are going anywhere.

One of my favorite features of this tool is that every day that you complete your morning routine, you get to see your progress on your journey, and every seven days you progress to a new landscape.

Not your every day To-Do List:

I have used dozens of "to-do" apps in the past, and they all are similar in their appearance, functionality, etc. With those tools I've found it gets too easy to forget to open the app. I would much rather use pen and paper because there is less effort required to see what is left to do, and don't have to worry about my phone distracting me.

Well, Fabulous figured that out. Fortunately they only want you in their app while you're doing your routines, and actually pushed me to use pen and paper for my real to-do list.

They call the enhanced view of the routine list their "fabulous moment" and each part of your routine has its own unique page that comes with soothing music.

You are encouraged to take it slow:

The app starts you out with one morning routine task - Drink water. That's it. You can't add anything else until you've successfully drank water for three days in a row!

This is a big deal because so many of us have the problem with getting over excited when we change things up. We overdo it and end up burning out. It's the small changes done every day that have a chance of sticking around. The Fabulous team knows this and have built this concept of slow adoption into their tool.

Even after you are able to add more tasks to your morning routine, they won't encourage you to start your afternoon or evening routines until you have reached a certain amount of usage of their app.

Now, they won't stop you if you truly want to add more things, but they strongly encourage you to wait if you haven't been using the app for very long.

Even for someone like me, who has been obsessed with habit formation, routines, and self-improvement for the better part of a decade, this feature is a pleasant and rare surprise for a random phone app.

Let me know if you try it out!

The team behind the Fabulous app have put a monstrous amount of work into creating a truly impressive tool, and their hard work has impressed me enough that I am willing to share this tool with all of you, my trusted readers.

I am not partnered with fabulous. I get no kickback from them if you join. There is no incentive for me to share this with all of you other than the fact that I am excited to share a tool that has helped me.

So please let me know if you end up trying the app.
