Quote of the week

Every week I try to think about various quotes that stir something in me. This quote has been one of my favorites for years now, ever since I discovered the wisdom of Stoicism.

Knowledge is potential power.

Without action, the knowledge does nothing for you, but without knowledge, you have no chance.

Education is so important.

It is the single reason I created this newsletter.

A way for me to share the things I have learned, and to learn from you, too.

Current Reads - Start Finishing by Charlie Gilkey

Speaking of constant education, I read multiple books each month, so every Wednesday in this newsletter I am going to share with you a book that I have recently read, or one that has made a huge impact on my life.

The first book to make it on WOW (Wise Owl Wednesday) is Start Finishing by Charlie Gilkey

Full disclosure, I first read this book two weeks ago.

But I just finished reading it again!

When I read something I need to go back to over and over again I typically read it twice within the first month I own it, so that the teachings stick.

Why this book is awesome:

I've read a lot of books on productivity, business, personal development, etc.

Most of those books talk about either the high level concept of productivity, or the "hacks" involved with getting a lot done in a short amount of time.

According to the author Charlie, that is only a part of the pie that is productivity.

Start Finishing brings together psychology, systems, and tools to give you what you need to plan and execute the life you know you're capable of living.

This newsletter is going out today in part because this book kicked me in the ass to finish.

Tips of the week: Wisdom, Health or Wealth

This is a section I want to include each week, but am not sure if I will.

Let me know if you like this section by replying to this email with your feedback.

Wisdom tip of the week:

Not all "good advice" is good advice for you.

The best way to improve yourself is to experiment.

Experiment with what foods give you the most energy.

Experiment with different types of budgeting strategies, or try intentional spending that doesn't use any budget.

Try all sorts of productivity strategies and create your own tailor made system that works best for you.

Don't be afraid to be yourself.

Health tip of the week:

Sleep is the number one determinant of health.

Do whatever you can to get enough sleep each night.

According to heart attack reporting in the western world, heart attacks increase by ~20% every year when daylight savings takes an hour of sleep from us, and heart attacks decrease by ~20% when we gain an hour.

That is INSANE!

Wise Owls make sure they are defending their sleep schedule.

Wealth tip of the week:

Learn about Cryptocurrency.

Even if you have no intention of ever buying Bitcoin, you will not regret taking the time to learn what all the fuss is about.

Cryptocurrency and the blockchain will eventually replace the way the world operates.

It might not be Bitcoin, but the world will eventually run on smart contracts.

New Articles

Every week I publish new articles on Medium.

Not every article I write will pertain to wisdom, health, and wealth, but most will!

New or relevant articles I publish will be included here.
