Life body-checked me and I fell out of flow

Hello Spoonbenders,

I recently experienced a big disappointment. It triggered my old wounds, depression, and fears, like, I’m never going to be able to fix this.

I sat with the feelings, worked with my nervous system, examined the stories that came up, and talked with friends and mentors. There were times I felt buried under old baggage and times I got clear, but I couldn’t hold the clarity.

I bent some spoons, and that brought me back to a sense of presence and alignment that is familiar to me, and reminded me that flow begins inside — not in what’s happening outside of me.

Flow is where you can feel steady even when things are uncertain, and presence is where you can hear your guidance and receive insights.

I remembered that focusing on what I know in my gut and what feels true inside myself is what actually influences my outside experience.

And that’s when I realized the next layer for my spoonbenders isn’t about bending better — it’s about anchoring the state that makes bending possible.

It doesn’t even have to be a big disappointment. Every day life has a way of nudging us out of flow and into habit.

SpoonBending Level Two: Bend the State is about recognizing that moment and knowing how to return.

It’s about not letting the outside take over the inside, and strengthening your ability to come back to yourself when it does.
