Happy August!
How can the year be half over already? I'm dreaming of fall even if I don't want it yet. I just want cooler temperatures. These last few weeks have seen many triple digit temperatures. Ugh! I am not a summer person. Give me cooler weather any day.
But let's stop talking about the weather, shall we? I have a few things to share this time and will try to keep things brief.
Words:
Last month was KDWC and my goal was to write 20k words. I ended up 75 words short of . . . 58k! I know! I was shocked too since that sets a new record for me. I even wrote over 6k in a day during camp which I had never done before. I worked on "Monday's Mystery" and a little on "Secret Project." I even started two new longer stories. They were supposed to be short stories, but I made the mistake of sharing them at camp and more was demanded. *looks at certain readers* I'm hoping "Nan's Ice Cream Shop" will end up a novella, but I have no idea about the other one.
But speaking of new stories . . .
New Short Story:
I wrote a short story at camp, designed the cover, wrote a synopsis (one sentence long), and published it. I was going to just tell this story one evening in the Lodge during a thunderstorm, but my power went out, so I wrote it on NEO by the light of a lantern. That was fun! If you've never written a story about a story during a storm by the light of a lantern, you should try it. Or read a story by lantern light about a storm during a storm. If you have Kindle Unlimited, you can read The Miner, the Preacher, and the Outlaws HERE.
Four men, one storm, and a night when eternity hangs in the balance.
And if you don't have KU, it's only $.99.
Sign Up Time!:
I'm so excited to get to share this book with you! It's not published yet, but the cover is designed.
Yes, it's Another Homewood Christmas collection! This book fills in missing decades, introduces new characters, gives you stories from the founding of Homewood all the way to modern times. My story is, uh, the longest. Sorry. It just needed more words to tell Tricia's story. Yes, you can read more about Tricia, Hope, and Aunt Peggy. As well as Peggy Ann, Alister, and others in my story The Prince of Peace.
But it's not just my story. There are 6 other authors and stories in this collection! That makes 7 Christian Christmas stories for you to enjoy! Is there romance? Maybe a slight hint of a possible one in one of the stories. Otherwise, no. If you love good, Christian, Christmas stories, help us promote this new collection and sign up HERE to read your choice of one of the stories!
Looking Ahead:
Now that camp is over, I am getting back into things like writing blog posts. I have an author interview coming for you later this month, and an interview with two authors and creators of an anthology series next month. Follow that with your favorite fall blogger event, and all sorts of other posts.
With that, I'll let you get back to whatever you were doing before this newsletter popped into your inbox and distracted you. And I think I'll go read. I have a stack of books from the library just waiting for me, but I have to finish another book first.
Until next time!
