A Luncheon, A Book, and a Survey

Happy February!
When you think of February, do you think of Valentine's Day? Chocolates, flowers, candle-light dinners, romance stories, and all that sort of thing? Sometimes I do, but mostly I think of the Widows' Luncheon at church. Since I'm in charge of it, perhaps that why. But what is a Widows' Luncheon? Our church has a widows' ministry. Each widow has 1-2 secret sisters from church who write to her during the year under a pen name. Then, at our Widows' Valentine Luncheon the widows find out who their secret sisters are and everyone gets to enjoy some fellowship and food together. We always decorate the room and have corsages for the widows to wear. This year we are doing a Traveling theme since our pen names were all cities from around the world.
Have you ever been someone's Secret Sister? If you are interested in possibly starting a ministry to the widows in your church, or even just with some widows you know, I'd be happy to at least attempt to answer any questions you might have.

But let's move on to books, shall we? Because I have a book I want you to read another page of. This book was written by a fellow Indie Author and it was so good.
If you've ever struggled with giving a cherished dream to God because you were afraid His plans for that dream might not be what you had planned, then you should read this book.
If you are a young lady dealing with life as a single, you should read this book.
If you are a married lady with single friends, you should read this book.
If you are an older lady and are wondering why God had you go through certain things, you should read this book because it just might encourage you.
All that being said, Fanny's Hope Chest is worth reading.
How old is too old for a hope chest?
When Ellie starts a new job as a home health aid, she doesn't expect to meet a woman in her eighties looking for her hope chest, nor a house as messy as Ellie's own emotional state. But as she cleans up Fanny's house, she begins to wonder if Fanny's hope chest might hold the answers to her questions about disappointed dreams and holding on to hope.
That is, if she can face both the mess and her own heart.
(Sorry, the picture isn't the greatest.)
