From the Editor's Desk:
It's a rainy Saturday morning here. It's cold, but not freezing cold. I am looking at my to-do list and wondering if I can get almost all of it done this morning. I'd like to get some other things worked on that aren't on my list, but we'll see what happens.
Weather Report:
Today it is raining. Yesterday it was sunny. Wednesday morning we woke up to around an inch or so of snow on the ground. So pretty! And since it didn't get above freezing all day the snow actually stuck around except on the streets.
"Genius Burns":
"Lawrence & Lenexa" is coming along. I just gave my editor over 8k words to read. I'm really enjoying watching this story grow and am anxious to see what happens because I don't know what the twins will do when they get back home from this Christian camp. :)
Project Prognosis:
I've gotten some work done on things for the Widows' Luncheon. I have ideas for decorating in my head, and some things I need to get done. Like making the corsages.
I also started cleaning out my Downloads file on my computer. It takes a while because I have so many different kinds of files. Some are stories that I got from different authors that I need to send to my kindle and then delete. Others are images I got for making graphics for blog posts. Others are graphics I created for KDWC, or my book covers. And there are more things.
Neighborhood News:
There was a fire in the neighborhood yesterday morning. A home on our block had a fire of some sort in their kitchen. There were fire trucks and police. The firemen had to rescue two indoor cats. Thankfully, no one was hurt. And the fire was put out quickly.

I just wanted to remind you that Fanny's Hope Chest is going to be released soon. If you pre-order it, you can get it for $.99, but if you wait until after it's released, the price goes up. I read my copy and really liked it. It's not just a book for single ladies. It's good for anyone who has dreams.
Pre-order your copy today. It's worth it.
KDWC:
The first mini-camp went well. It ended on Wednesday, but we won't close down until this evening. If you know of any ladies (young and old) who enjoy writing and would like to connect with other Christian writers, send them over to the King's Daughters' Writing Camp website. Our next camp is scheduled for the month of April.
Babysitting:
We babysat all the kids last Friday. They came over after naps and stayed until 8:30 or so. They are all growing so much! James is only about an inch shorter than Sarah now. Kinsley is wanting to walk everywhere if you'll hold her hands, or if she can hang on to the furniture. If nothing's around to hang on to, she'll crawl. She absolutely loves baby dolls! The others stay busy reading, playing, finger knitting, and I'm not sure what all. Some stories were read.
Oh, we did celebrate Kailyn's 6th birthday. She got a watch and a book she'd never read before, so she was excited.
Trip up North:
Mom, Sarah, and I went up to KC on Tuesday to spend the day with my grandparents. I put together Grandma's new desk. We hung some pictures for Grandpa, got two large picture frames ready to hang, and enjoyed our time together. It's rather fun to be able to go up and then come back home in a day. It means we can go more often.
Science Fair:
Yesterday James and four other boys from his homeschool group had a mini "science fair". James had tested a rocket with baking soda and vinegar to see if the rocket would go higher or lower if you put more of less of one of those elements in it. His project ended up winning 1st place. Good job, James!
Read Another Page Publishing:
Nothing to announce here.
Reading Challenge:
If you want to join my To Be Read reading challenge, there is still time. I've managed to read 9 books so far for the challenge. Since it doesn't end until the end of June, you have time. The challenge is to read 24 books, but you can earn points by reading just 4 or more books. And if you review those books you get more points. If you want to join, just let me know.
Book Nook:
Let's see, what have I been reading? I read Fanny's Hope Chest. (Have I mentioned that book on here yet? ;) ) Learning Lessons was also good. And so was Yesterday Never Happened. Right now I'm reading Hymns in the Hills. Yes, it's one of my own books, but I haven't read it for a while and it's rather good.
Farewell:
And so, I've reached the end of this Joplin Journal one more time. I hope you have a wonderful last days of January!
