I didn’t have a mentor. So I made one.

There’s a certain kind of loneliness that’s hard to explain.
You’re not a junior anymore—
You’ve shipped projects.
Led meetings.
Maybe even mentored others.
From the outside, you look like you’ve got it together.
But inside?
You’re stuck.
You’re trying to figure out how to land the next role.
Make a leap into a new company.
Get promoted, paid more, recognized.
But you’re doing it alone.
No mentor to gut-check your strategy.
No one to say, “That portfolio’s not the problem—your positioning is.”
No advocate who can open a door, make a referral, or vouch for your character.
And that aloneness?
It compounds.
You don’t just feel stuck.
You start to doubt your instincts.
Second-guess every move.
You work harder. Tweak more. Read all the blogs.
But the breakthrough never comes.
That was me.
I didn’t have a mentor in UX.
No ex-Googler coach. No silver-bullet strategy.
What I had was trial and error.
Late nights piecing together what worked.
Figuring out what didn’t—through rejections, missed interviews, and awkward salary talks.
And over time, I realized something:
It’s not about finding one magical mentor.
It’s about building an ecosystem around you—
Of feedback.
Of insight.
Of real-time correction and pushback.
You don’t need someone to hold your hand.
But you do need someone to call your bluff when you’re playing small.
Someone to help you see yourself the way hiring managers do—
Not through effort, but through impact.
That’s why I built UX Careerpreneurs.
Because I knew others were quietly struggling through the same maze.
Not broken. Not lost. Just trying to figure it out alone.
And that’s not a strategy.
It’s a slow drift into burnout.
So if you’ve been doing this solo—
And deep down, you’re craving real guidance, honest feedback, and someone who gets this stage of your career—
I see you.
You’re not behind.
You’re just unsupported.
And that’s a fixable problem.
P.S. If you want to stop figuring everything out alone, I’ve got 1 spot left for UX Careerpreneurs. DM me “UXCP” or reply to this email and I’ll send the details. Doors close tonight.
