Why you're overthinking every design decision

Hey,
A designer I was coaching sent me this message:
"I've been staring at this navigation design for 3 days. Tabs vs hamburger menu. I can make a case for both. But I don't know which is right."
Three days. On one decision.
And she still couldn't commit.
Here's what I told her:
"You're not stuck because you can't decide. You're stuck because you can't defend your decision."
The moment she realized she'd need to present to her PM and engineering team, she froze.
Because she didn't have a framework for why tabs over hamburger. Just a gut feeling.
And gut feelings don't survive stakeholder questions.
This is the most common problem I see with mid-level designers:
Not lack of design skills. Lack of decision-making confidence.
When I'm hiring, I don't just look at portfolios. I ask: "Walk me through why you made this decision."
The designers who get offers? They have a clear rationale.
"I chose tabs over hamburger because our user research showed 78% of users are power users who need fast access to 4 core features. Hamburger menu adds an extra tap. Tabs reduce friction."
Done. Defendable. Confident.
The designers who don't get offers? They say:
"Um... it just felt better? I looked at some examples and thought this would work."
No framework. No confidence. No offer.
This is why Tommy Geoco is in the bundle.
Tommy is the founder of UX Tools. Over 14 years in Silicon Valley, sold a startup, worked with brands like Adobe, TikTok, Framer, Notion.
He has 150K+ on YouTube, 495K+ on TikTok. Not because he posts design inspiration. Because he teaches how to make design decisions.
His course: Making UX Decisions.
It's not about making perfect designs. It's about making fast, defendable decisions when you have limited time and resources.
What you get:
- 60+ videos on decision-making frameworks
- 75+ UI patterns and checklists (for solving common problems without overthinking)
- 500+ page ebook (the field guide for design operators)
- 25 course modules teaching you how to identify business bets and align your design decisions
- 7 course assessments (real-world scenarios to practice)
- 8 expert Q&A interviews with product and design leaders from Netflix, Airbnb, Roblox
Standalone price: $399.
In the bundle: Part of the $299 package.
Who this is for:
Designers who spend hours debating decisions that should take minutes.
Designers who know how to design but struggle to explain why they made specific choices.
Designers working under pressure who need to ship fast without sacrificing quality.
Why this matters for landing roles:
In interviews, they'll ask: "Walk me through this project. Why did you make this decision?"
If you can't answer with a clear framework, you won't get the offer.
Even if your portfolio looks great.
Tommy's course gives you the frameworks. So when they ask "Why tabs over hamburger?" you have a 2-minute answer that makes you sound like you know exactly what you're doing.
Because you do.
The bundle includes this + 5 other resources.
- Femke: Product strategy and stakeholder influence
- Tommy: Making UX decisions with confidence
- Anfisa: UX research and business foundations
- Elizabeth: Notion workspace (20+ templates)
- Samaneh: Portfolio positioning
- Me: Job search system (land interviews without applying online)
$299 total. Jan 5-16 only.

P.S. One of Tommy's students said: "This course course-corrected my indecision." That's the unlock. Decision-making is a skill. Tommy teaches it.it.
