The easy mode of networking

Aug 12, 2025 12:36 am

Most job seekers play networking on hard mode.

They send cold DMs.

Wait days for replies.

Watch their inbox stay empty.

Here’s easy mode:

Go to ADP List.

Search your target company.

Filter by role — designer, researcher, product manager.

Book a slot with someone who’s already agreed to talk to strangers.

By this time next week, you could have 3–5 insider conversations booked.

No cold pitching. No guesswork.

When you’re on the call, skip the “tell me about the company” small talk.

Treat it like a mini user interview:

• “How did you move from your last role to this one?”

• “What do top 1% candidates here do differently?”

• “What are the biggest challenges or goals your team has right now?”

This is how you collect the kind of context that makes referrals happen naturally.

Not by asking for one.

But by sparking curiosity, building trust, and leaving behind value they can share.

That’s the core of my Backdoor Referral Framework — the system my clients use to turn conversations into interviews without sounding desperate or transactional.
