He didn't cry (and what this teaches us about career transitions)

My 3-year-old started at his new preschool today.

I was braced for tears. Clinging. The usual drama that comes with big changes.

Instead, he walked right in and announced to the room: "Hello everybody, I am back!"

Here's the thing - he'd only visited once before when we were deciding between schools. But in his mind, this wasn't a scary new place. It was somewhere he'd already been. Somewhere he belonged.

Most UX professionals approach their dream companies like my son's first day at a completely foreign school. They see these organizations as distant, intimidating places where they don't belong yet.

But what if you could walk into your dream job interview and say "Hello everybody, I'm back" - because you'd already built relationships there?

This is exactly what Career Creators do differently.

Instead of cold applications to strangers, they connect with hiring managers months before roles are posted. They comment on LinkedIn posts. They share insights. They become familiar faces.

By the time there's an opening, they're not unknown candidates competing with 500 others. They're people the team already knows and respects.

The conversation shifts from "Who are you?" to "When can you start?"

My son felt comfortable because he'd already been there. He'd already met the teachers. The unknown became known.

Your dream companies can feel the same way when you build relationships before you need them.

In Career Creators, we call this your Dream 100 Network - the strategic connections that transform you from outsider to insider at your target companies.

Because when you're already "back," you don't need to fight for attention. You already have it.

P.S. If you want to learn how to build your Dream 100 Network so your next interview feels like a reunion instead of an audition, reply "Dream 100" and I'll share the details.
