What I learned running my first AI Portfolio Workshop

This week I ran my first AI Portfolio Workshop: Build a Standout Case Study in 60 Minutes.

Dozens of designers showed up. Some were juniors, some were senior leaders. All of them had the same worry:

“Hiring managers skim in 20 seconds. How do I stand out?”

We kept it simple:

→ Write a clear headline about who you are (HERO).

→ Show your work like a trailer, not a wall of screens.

→ Turn one project into a movie — a real story with tension and outcomes.

→ Wrap it up with a TLDR — five lines a manager can read while sipping coffee.

The chat lit up. People started rewriting their headlines live.

One designer shared hers and laughed: “This finally sounds like me.”

It was short, clear, and confident.

That’s the magic. It’s not about fancy visuals. It’s about clarity.

Some of the feedback I got after the workshop:

✨ “Portfolio tool looks great, excited to try it out.”

✨ “Very informative.”

✨ “The session was great — I learned what works and why.”

My reflection → Most people think they need to add more to their portfolio. What they really need is to cut the noise so their story is easy to follow.

Next Monday, I’m opening doors again to Career Creators.

If you join, you’ll get access to this workshop recording (and others), plus the tools I use with my clients to cut through the noise in resumes, portfolios, and LinkedIn. If you want an early invite, reply 'early' to this email and I'll send you the details.

The goal is simple: save you months of wasted effort, help you see yourself clearly, and build the confidence to go after the roles you really want.

Stay tuned.

P.S. And with every live workshop, there's bound to have some tech issue. I totally forgot to share access for the CustomGPT I spent days building. Luckily it was a quick fix and everyone got to try it out :)
