Are you a Sally or a Benny?

Most people don’t fail because they’re lazy.

They fail because they’re playing the wrong game.

Take Spray-and-Pray Sally.

Sally applies to 200+ jobs online.

She spends hours tweaking résumés, hitting “apply,” and refreshing her inbox.

Her odds?

→ 1% response rate.

→ 99% ghosting, scams, or rejection emails from ATS bots.

→ Burnout that only gets heavier each week.

Then there’s Backdoor Benny.

Benny doesn’t touch the front door.

He skips the pile where 1,000 strangers fight over the same seat.

Instead, he goes in through the back.

→ He gets clear on the roles and companies he actually wants.

→ He reaches out to the right people before jobs are even posted.

→ He builds trust so when a role opens, his name is already in the conversation.

Hiring managers see Benny differently.

He’s not “Applicant #847.”

He’s “that designer Sarah recommended.”

That one shift makes him the lowest-risk, most obvious choice.

This is why my clients land final-round interviews in weeks — not years.

Because they stop being Sally.

They start being Benny.

The truth is:

Harder hustle ≠ better results.

System beats scatter.

So let me ask:

Are you still chasing through the front door, or are you ready to create opportunities through the back?

P.S. I created this little animation of Sally and Benny. Had fun making it haha. Have a look and let me know what you think?
