Moving houses feels like job searching
Feb 22, 2025 1:11 am
Right now, my life is a mess.
I’m moving into a new place, and there are a thousand things happening at once.
📦 Packing and unpacking.
🚚 Arranging movers.
🛋️ Buying furniture, fixing appliances.
🎒 Settling my toddler into a new school.
🖌️ Repainting the house.
It’s chaos. Some days, it feels like too much.
But when I take a step back, I remind myself:
👉 Why am I doing this?
Because I want a home closer to family and my son’s school.
Because I want a space that feels like mine.
Because I know that, once this is done, it’ll all be worth it.
And it hit me—this is exactly like job searching.
When you’re deep in the process, it can feel like you’re juggling a thousand things at once:
📌 Fixing your resume.
📌 Updating your portfolio.
📌 Preparing for interviews.
📌 Networking with the right people.
📌 Dealing with rejections.
It’s exhausting. But in those moments, you have to zoom out.
👉 Why are you doing this?
To land a job that excites you.
To build a career that actually fulfills you.
To create a better future for yourself (and maybe your family, too).
That big picture is what keeps you moving forward.
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed, ask yourself:
📌 What’s your end goal?
📌 Who are you doing this for?
Because when you stay focused on that, the hard work feels worth it.
