Create an Edge for Success - 3 Coaches Tell How

Coach ,
For many high schools, this is the week of camp. Report day for colleges starts this week as well. With about 3 weeks to get ready for game one, every day is critical.
Everyone has the same amount of opportunities before game 1. Finding and creating an edge every day can make the difference between 10-0 and 6-4 because in many games the difference in talent on each side is so close.
Here are three ideas for you to get the edge as you get your camps rolling.
#1 Create an Edge in Every Practice
Mack Brown had Al Groh visit practice prior to playing Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl, and the insight Coach Groh gave reminded Coach Brown of what they need to do to create the edge. He explains here:
#2 Rob Sgarlata - “Magis” - the 1%
Rob Sgarlata is the Head Coach at Georgetown University. For the Hoyas, the edge is getting 1% every day, and Coach discusses how that makes an incredible difference in giving them an edge on their opponents over the course of a year:
#3 James Franklin - Send them off with a focus by ending meetings with a quote
The opportunities to create an edge are all around us, and James Franklin sees that opportunity to send his players out with an impactful message by sharing a quote. Here is one he shares in this video:
It is an exciting time for you program, so keep the edge that you create and it will go a long way in helping your team reach their full potential.
Always be growing!

P.S. The other day I shared some resources we have worked with coaches and organizations to package up for you in order to give you the edge you need as the season progresses. Here they are:
Offensive Coordinator School (19 presentations)
Defensive Coordinator School (21 presentations)
Special Teams Coordinator School (11 presentations)
Prep for Camp Bundles (6 presentations each)
There’s 24 hours left to get these in your library and have an incredible resource during the season.
