3 RPO’s for your Wing-T Offense

With the dominant run game of the wing-t offense, finding ways to protect the running game when the defense starts to cheat can be a huge tool to both pick-up chunks of yardage as well as get them to play honest. As with any offense in football, the RPO is one of the best tools for accomplishing this.
Here are three RPO’s that you will want to add to your offense in 2023.
#1) Down QB Follow RPO
The Down scheme is very versatile and allows for a great downhill run game. Couple that with a simple RPO read attacking the void where a level two player is fitting the run, and you have something incredibly difficult to stop.
Blair Hubbard’s Faster Than the Fly version of the wing-t is excelling for him and coaches who utilize this offense across the country.

#2) Buck Sweep Read RPO
Coach Nick Gehrts runs a successful wing-t offense, and like most coaches has the Buck Sweep as a featured part of his offense. In this version of a pre snap RPO, Coach Gehrts explains how the QB has three options for throwing the ball if the defense is packing the box pre snap.
#3) Post Snap Buck Sweep RPO
The beauty of the RPO is that it allows for simple throws for big gains. On a 3rd & 2, Coach Michael Fields calls a Buck Sweep with an RPO attachment and the slot eases into the void picking up the necessary yards and then some.
