The Stress Cycle

Hey everyone,
Thank you so much for sticking with me. You’ve probably noticed I send emails only occasionally—and that’s very intentional. I believe in creating space, not noise.
As someone who actively invites calm and regulation into my own life, I try to extend that same energy to this community. I don’t want to overwhelm you—or myself—with constant updates. So if you’re enjoying the slower, more intentional pace, I’m really glad to hear it.
Now, let’s dive into something important that’s been on my mind lately: 🔥 Stress & Inflammation — how chronic stress reshapes our bodies from the inside out...
We often think of stress as a mental burden, but it’s also a biological disruptor. Chronic stress doesn’t just wear you down emotionally; it rewires your body’s internal systems in ways that can lead to long-term health issues.
Here’s what’s happening beneath the surface:
⭐ Cortisol Dysregulation Your stress hormone, cortisol, is meant to calm inflammation. But when stress becomes chronic, cortisol levels either spike or crash, both of which can increase inflammatory markers.
🌟 Immune System Overdrive Your body starts treating stress like a constant threat. Immune cells stay in “attack mode,” which can lead to tissue damage and autoimmune flare-ups.
⭐️ Inflammation Fallout Brain fog, digestive issues, body pain, fatigue, mood swings, and even increased risk of heart disease, these are all signs your body’s inflammation response is stuck in overdrive.
✨ The good news? You can interrupt this cycle.
Here are a few science-backed examples to consider to calm your nervous system and reduce inflammation—naturally.
Pathways Out of the Stress Loop
Healing doesn’t mean removing all stress, but learning to complete the cycle and shift into balance.
• Movement (walking, stretching, shaking it out)
• Breathwork and grounding
• Connection (safe relationships, hugs, laughter)
• Creative expression (singing, writing, art)
• Rest + boundaries to prevent overload
• Self-compassion to soften the inner critic that fuels the loop
Until the next email, be gentle with yourself. Your body is listening.
With care, Jen @OT_Intuition
