🤔 Myth or Fact: I can make up for lost sleep by sleeping extra on weekends.

🔥MYTH🔥

Two things to know:

✅ Extra sleep on the weekend doesn’t erase the bad health effects of too little sleep during the week.

✅Plus: those extra sleep hours could actually make health problems linked to too little sleep during the week even worse!

In a study, researchers found that people who slept extra on the weekend had reduced insulin sensitivity in their liver & muscles, which is linked with higher blood sugar levels.

(And high blood sugar levels are tied with a long list of serious diseases.)

Too little sleep can make it harder to manage stress, lower your reaction time, and make it harder to solve problems.

It can also make you crave high-calorie foods … and it’s linked with a higher risk of having a serious car accident.

Over the long term, too little sleep is linked to heart and kidney diseases, high blood pressure, brain health, diabetes, obesity, and obesity-related disease.

👉 These are all good reasons to make sleep a priority EVERY day!

Have an amazing evening,
