Science fiction and fantasy - from Middle America to the ends of the Universe
Hi ,
It's been a busy summer of day camps and as many trips as I can sneak in. The next trip is coming up soon. I'll take my son and some of his friends to the lake for a weekend.
Not camping. While I can handle camping in many times and places, Texas in the summer is not one of them. Ten minutes outside is enough to soak me in sweat. I wouldn't want to try to sleep like that.
Luckily, when the boys get tired of the pool and it's too hot to throw a football, we'll retreat indoors. Running water. Air conditioning. And Wi-Fi, of course. Kids these days...
It's not bad at all. When the boys stay up till 4 am playing video games, I'll retreat to my room with a good book.
Speaking of which, here's one you might like.
Scatter the Winds
a Wings of Earth novel
Eric Michael Craig
Kylla Torrance leads a mission to establish a sanctuary where genetically engineered Augments can live in peace, beyond the reach of the Shan Takhu Institute.
She knows the truth about the Institute’s ominous plans to control the ancient alien technologies left behind in the Solar System, and that only engineered humans can fully access their potential.
People like her. And her team.
When someone on the Agamemnon sells her out to pirates, Kylla’s plans spin into chaos. Worse yet, a telepathic slave hunter seeks to crush the threat she represents to the Institute’s hold on power.
With the help of a mutinous officer, Kylla has one chance to give her people hope for a future, but to succeed they must disappear into the deep.
