houston rent assistance available this morning

Today at 8 am roughly $1.3 billion dollars of rental assistance will be made available to families who have been negatively impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic.
The Texas Coronavirus Relief Bill offers up to 11 months of rental assistance that can be used to cover rent dating back to March of 2020 or rent for the next 3 months. Individuals who are interested can apply starting Monday, February 15th at 8 am.
In addition to those funds, the City of Houston and Harris County have partnered to provide $159 million dollars of rent and utility assistance to those who need help. This program is called the Houston-Harris County Emergency Rental Assistance Program and tenants can begin applying for it on February 25th.
In this week's guide titled How To Apply For COVID 19 Emergency Rental Assistance Programs In Houston, I'll go over the application process for each program and provide a searchable table to help you or your clients to find nonprofits in their zip codes to help with rent assistance, utilities and other basic needs.
