I do this every night before bed (important update)
Sep 25, 2024 4:15 am
Recently I’ve started doing something new for my nightly routine.
Yes, I still do the same stuff .
Brush my teeth, tuck in my daughter, get in my pajamas, eat some ice cream (kidding, but not kidding…I definitely have a sweet tooth) and whatever else.
But doing this one thing before bed has really been powerful and it’s something almost anyone can do too.
I take 5 minutes and look up at the stars. 🌠
I do this immediately after tucking my daughter in, and when I take my dog outside to do his final pee for the night I sit and enjoy what’s up above.
A couple of key takeaways I’ve observed with this short practice:
1-It almost immediately changes my perspective on whatever might be stressing me out. Looking up and realizing how small I am in the grand universe is humbling.
It allows me to zoom out. I realize that I’m just a living being on this tiny little blue planet spinning around a giant hot star in the balance of it all.
When I realize that, it makes me almost laugh out loud.
I come away realizing that I’m just a tiny tiny fraction of life in a much bigger picture, and that makes me not want to worry about stupid stuff as much. 👏
Most of our worries are self-inflicted.
2-It allows me to get into the state of “awe.”
Then into appreciation.
Gratitude for another day, no matter what happened before that moment.
I take 5 deep breaths as a “closing ceremony” for the day and then I go inside.
It’s been a really cool practice and I’d love to hear from you if you give it a go.

P.S. We are sending out thoughts and “storm turning” intentions to our friends and customers in Sarasota. We hope that everyone stays safe and bonds together. It’s always a bit unnerving with the unknown of these great storms.
Remember to take deep breaths. Help each other out.
We will most likely be closing early tomorrow at Noon for the safety of our customers and staff.
We will keep you posted. Be well. 🙏
